With Cataclysm just one weeks away, I am steering content away from kitty goodness for a brief moment to make a recruitment plug for my guild. Daybreak has been my home for nearly 5 years now and will continue to be so until the day that I stop playing WoW. It is by far one of the most compelling aspects of WoW that keep me engaged in this game due to the fact that the folks in this guild are fantastic people that I have played with for years and years. We continue to be a strong and healthy guild due to our like minded ideals on what we feel is success and enjoyment in WoW. We are not in any way shape or form in need of players but instead we are looking for like minded people that have like minded goals.

History

Daybreak is an Alliance guild on Auchindoun-US PVP server of older mature players who have played since the release of Vanilla WoW in 2004. Majority of our core have been playing & raiding together since Molten Core and continue to because of our passion for WoW and the family we have become. Originally from Warsong-US, we moved in Aug 09 to Auchindoun-US where we have since maintained a reputation of being one of the premier guilds on the server. While we are primarily a 25 man raiding guild, we are more than just a guild that logs on for raid nights. We have a strong passion for achievements and on any given night will find folks working on some obscure achievement or farming old content for rare mounts & legendaries

We are not a guild that prides ourselves on world firsts or server firsts. We pride ourselves in our ability to complete content in a shortened and light raid schedule which does result in many Server Firsts. We will never push beyond our raid schedules, nor will we jeopardize our guild health for epics or Server Firsts. A prime example of this is our decision to skip HLK and HHalion to ensure we went into Cataclysm with minimal attrition and a strong raiding core.

We are a guild that absolutely loves achievements. We do them while progressing through content and we go back and do them in our spare time as well. We probably as a guild spend more time doing achievement activities than raiding itself. With the imminent arrival of Cataclysm, we have completed 98% (264/269) of all WOTLK raid achievements, most of which have been done numerous times. With the onset of Guild Achievements in the upcoming expansion, rest assured that there will be heavy focus on this as well as personal achievements.

Respect each other by being part of the the guild not just a raid. Whether it be helping with achievements, lvling alts, doing old content or just socializing in guild chat. We are must more than just an avenue for purples. Respect the raid by always ensuring you are here when you can and if you can’t, respect the guild by posting and providing awareness that you are not available. We are an older guild and we understand that real life sometimes supersedes WoW and we have no issues with that, as long as we know ahead of time.

Daybreak Logistics

We run on a 3 day raid schedule which consists of Tues, Wed and Thurs from 7-12pm EST and we handle loot distribution through loot council.

Patch 4.03a is today (Full patch notes here) and as such the Shattering has occurred and the face of Azeroth has been changed forever. Last night I took some time to hang out in the Park as it will be destroyed with the coming of Deathwing and will on longer exist. By hang out I mean I was hoping that I’d login and get my face melted by Deathwing but looks like there’s no such luck.

Flying Mounts in Dalaran 4.01

Very quick post, the title says it all. Been meaning to post this since 4.01 landed but never had the time. Pre 4.01 there were very easy ways to use flying mounts in Dalaran explained here. Since then those methods were broken and no longer work. At first glance it seems that Blizzard removed the ability to fly in Dalaran but that is not the case. In fact there is an even easier way to fly in Dalaran! Specifically this is in reference to South Bank. Instructions on how to do so are listed below, enjoy!

Set yourself up inbetween the two domes. Keep the diamond on the bigger dome (on the right side) in sight that is your point of reference when flying into Dalaran.

Fly at a 45 degree angle forward, the easiest way to do this is to press your forward key + jump key at the same time. Keep going until you just fly above the diamond on the right.

As soon as you pass the diamond (your point of reference, dive bomb down straight into the South Bank area.

Dalaran won't be the cool place to hang out for long so enjoy this while it lasts!

Blizzard is in the process of releasing a new community website to coincide with the launch of Cataclysm and with it comes a completely new set of forums. To my surprise today during my perusing on the new forums I realized that Alamo has once again provided us with some new” TEECHS” in the druid forums. If you don’t know who Alamo is, then you my friend have been missing out and need to read this ASAP.

8 ) MOON DURID, O yes wow man! Moon Durid hang out with 70′s rock band and now make a MUSH ROOM from a SECRET PLASE! Mushrooms make a thing ECPLOAD! Espeshully a brain, if u listen to a moon durid backwards, u hear some CARZY THING!

9) Everbuddy liek a LOLCAT, make a funny say with a cute picshure! But now, picshure is not so cute, becawse a DURID now haf a TROLLCAT! Troll is make a talk all liek YAH MON. Maybe when trollcat and moondurid make a party together, is nobuddy remember not nothin next day!

10) WOLF MAN can also make a durid. WOLF MAN DURID, O man Alamo dosen’t even haf to wear hims hot topic tee shirt no more! Now got all WOLF and CAT and BARE and MUCHROOM and SEEL and stuff all in same plase!

300,000 Hits

Feral Aggression just ticked over 300,000 hits! As always, thanks to all of you who appreciate what I have to say and special thanks to all those folks out there who provide input (whether you agree or disagree) in the comments section.

Insane in the Membrane Update

As previously posted yesterday, the Insane in the Membrane FOS has been updated so that Shen’dralar is no longer required. This undoubtedly has caused a lot of rejoicing by some and a lot of negative blacklash from others. As I said yesterday, its best to leave big time consuming, huge commitment FOS type activities alone so that the proverbial shit does not hit the fan. Hope that there were some serious lessons learned from this experience so it doesn’t happen again in the future.

With two new playable races just on the horizon, many players have been asking when they’ll be able to convert their existing characters into goblins or worgen. Paid faction and race changes will be available immediately once Cataclysm is released. Realm First achievements for leveling any class to 85 will be available in Cataclysm. However there will be no Realm First achievements associated with leveling characters of a specific race. There will be a slight change to the way paid services work for goblins and worgen. Goblin and worgen characters wishing to change race or faction cannot be in Lost Isles or Gilneas; they must be elsewhere to initiate the process. There are no restrictions on race/faction change to goblin or worgen.

Extremely interesting that they are allowing race changes that quickly. I’m giving this some serious thought to race change (most likely after the grind to 85). Its been 6 years as a Night Elf, so a change would be nice.

The design for combat resurrection effects has changed a good deal for Cataclysm, and we want to make sure players are clear on how spells like Rebirth and Create Soulstone now function. Rebirth has a 10-minute cooldown and Create Soulstone has a 15-minute cooldown. On raid boss encounters, you can only use one of these combat resurrection spells (so one Rebirth or one Soulstone) per attempt for 10-player raids. For 25-player raids you can use three forms of combat resurrection per raid boss attempt (so three of any combination of Rebirth and Soulstone). The count is incremented as soon as a player accepts a resurrection, so one can always choose not to accept if he or she wants someone else to get the resurrection instead. There is no equivalent of the Sated debuff (which tracks Bloodlust/Heroism usage), but you will get an error message if you try to resurrect too many players, and we might add tracking to our raid interface if there is demand for it. Outside of raid content, you can use as many battle resurrections as you have available.

For those of you currently participating in the World of Warcraft: Cataclysm beta test, please note that this functionality may not be fully implemented as of yet. If you notice combat resurrections are not currently functioning as explained here, this is just a heads-up about the updated design intent behind them.

Interesting design decision change by Blizzard. Personally I don’t think this is a huge change as most guilds dont run with too many druids in the first place. For example, in my 10 man for WOTLK we only had 1 druid so that meant 1 rez anyways. However in 25 mans we did have 5-7 druids depending on the night which did result in a bunch of rez chains. So in that sense I guess this will have some effect, but then again, if people don’t screw up and die then that makes a Battle Rez irrelevant.

Deathy Blizzcon 2010

Red Shirt Guy

If you were able to attend Blizzcon this year or watched the stream, you undoubtedly heard about “Red Shirt Guy”

For those who are not aware, this guy asked a question during the Lore Q&A session with Alex Afrasiabi & Chris Metzen. The question was more of a statement pointing out that their lore was incorrect as one of the Wildhammer characters was not in game which was incorrect based on what was said in the WoW books. Naturally, both Alex/Chris were stumped which made this guy an instant celebrity at Blizzcon. Blizzard not only fixed their error but also honored “Red Shirt Guy” by creating an NPC beside Falstad Wildhammer called Wildhammer Fact Checker.

You really gotta tip your cap to Blizzard, not only are they able to admit they are wrong, but they reward and honor people who play their game. Good on you Blizz!
