Le Fin

Dear Readers,

It has been approximately 3 months since my disappearance from WOW and the blogosphere and I am writing to you now to let you know that this is my final post. This is probably not a big surprise to anyone who has been a regular reader but I feel that I owe you all a little closure since my departure was very sudden and unexpected.

There is no specific reason why it happened, but more an accumulation of reasons over time. As most of you know, my wife and I were blessed with our first child last year and it has been an extreme roller coaster of a ride. The older she gets, the more challenging it becomes. Her needs and demands increase as she gets older and its (WOW) just not something feasible to continue the way I want to play it. When I was still playing, I knew as she got older there would come a day where it just wasn’t possible to sit down and play for 5 hours straight on a raid night. The other driving factor behind my decision was what was happening in game. Unfortunately after 5 years of existence in one form or another, Daybreak, my guild finally bit the dust. When such a major part of in-game life suddenly disappears it is very hard to replace. Again, there was no specific reason why it happened, it really just came down to quality of content and the willingness of people to push forward day in and day out. We’ve survived through plenty of attritions before but this time there was just no coming back from it.

So, with a sudden huge void in game and increasing pressures at home I knew this was the best time to to make it happen.

Yes, I will admit that disappearing suddenly is not the best way to go about it. However, knowing myself and the type of person I am and how intrenched/involved I have been in this game, I knew it was a necessity to quit cold turkey and disappear. I knew it would be a lot more difficult to wean myself off WOW slowly (I’ve tried it before with little success) so this was really the only solution. So, I decided to drop everything overnight. Hell… I’m still in resto gear (ew?) At first, I didn’t really have a long term plan but as time passed, I decided I would give it 3 months.

So what have I been doing for the past 3 months? Well, to tell you the truth it really wasn’t hard to step away from WOW, I probably could have made this post 2 months ago but I felt I should stick with my original plan. I think for me WOW had reached it’s expiry date.

In retrospect, it is kind of ridiculous when you look back and realize how much more free time you have when you aren’t raiding or logged on chatting in game. With more time on my hands I’ve been spending a lot more time with my family and it’s been fantastic. Also I’ve been spending more time working on my golf game, which I’m happy to share is getting better!

Over 400,000 hits, 900 comments and a hell of a lot of fun.

I’d like to thank all of you, the readers for all your support over the 1.5 year journey that was Feral Aggression. It was my first blogosphere experience and it really was rewarding in many ways. Of all the posts I’ve made I enjoyed making the Pimp My Druid series the most. It may get outdated in terms of strategy but it’ll still remain relevant for all those who are still hunting those mounts. From sharing my experiences, to helping people out to just keeping my English relatively sharp it was one of the most positive experiences from my 6 years in WOW.

I am one to never say goodbye, so I will say so long for now. I don’t know what the future holds, hell I might get sucked back into WOW at some point but it seems unlikely right now.

I have always had a weak spot for video games (particularly Blizzard games) so I’m sure sooner or later I will get hooked onto another game. I’ve always been a Diablo fan moreso than Warcraft, so I am positive you will be seeing a Rarren running around Sanctuary soon enough.

Until then… Farewell

Feral Aggression Makeover!

Topic says it all, after 15 months I’ve decided to change the theme I’ve been using here at WordPress. I’ve been wanting to change for a while as it was getting a little stale but its been hard to find a theme that I like and that fits well. So here’s the new theme, hope you like it as much as I do. The one thing I don’t like is the small header which I will have to be creative with screenshots in the future.

Happy Birthday Feral Aggression!

I apologize for the lack of posts for almost a two week period. My readers know I try and keep the content flowing but I have a good excuse for the lack of posts. 13 days ago my wife and I were blessed with our first child and we have been extremely busy since! Its been a real challenge trying to figure out how to take care of a new born and there are no guides or strategies only trial and error most of the time. Things have been going well (aside from the lack of sleep) so I should be getting back to my posting relatively soon.

In the interim I just wanted to mention that 1 year ago Feral Aggression the blog was started and 147,000 hits later here we are today. Thanks to all those out there that appreciate what I have to say and here’s to another year of even more good ol fashion kitty fun.

It’s Over 100,000!

Dear Readers,

When I started this blog I really had no aspirations more than to give it a try and see what happens. I had started this very blog before at least 2-3 before and scrapped it. But here we are today 10 months later with a very healthy reader base and over 100,000 hits! Soon enough I’ll have more hits than I do gold and that is truly something I never thought would happen. Thanks to everyone for popping in to see what I have to say and especially those who drop me a comment (really comments make my day).

As for me, its been a busy couple of weeks in Icecrown. Our 10 man is now 9/12 on hard modes and we’ve gotten Sindragosa to 10% so expect that one to fall soon. From the 25 man front, Arthas is getting to about 40-45% (minus 10% for p5) so we’re getting close. With the new 5% Strengh of Wyrnn buff who knows, maybe that is enough to push us over the top. We’ll see on Thursday when we get back to Arthas.

Farewell Kalon

The immortal Alamo once said:

DURIDS IS MUST ALWAYZ HALP EECH OTHER: sumtimes a new durid is need sum halp and advise frum a good durid so u shuld alway halp unother

As most of you already know (and if you don’t shame on you!), Kalon has decided to hang up his paws and retire from wow and blogging. It truly is a sad day in the blogging world, especially for feral druids as he has been a consistent source of reliable (correct) information for a long time. The feral blogging community is very small as it is and to lose Kalon is nothing short of devastating. It’s hard to express gratitude to someone you’ve never met. However Kalon has touched many of us feral druids out there with his words of wisdom and advice. For us bloggers out there, you know how powerful a simple Kalon linkup is. Kalon’s followed up his goodbye post with some recommended reads and I would say I am quite honored to be mentioned along with some really great current and past feral bloggers so many thanks for that.

To Kalon: Best of luck to you, your newborn and the rest of your family and remember there’s always Cataclysm 😉

Six Digit Bank Account

For those who have been following my blog they’ve probably figured out that I’m somewhat of an achievement whore. What you might not know is that I also collect.. well gold. I’ve been saving up for quite a while now and today I finally reached 6 digits… 100,000g! You might be wondering, how long it took so I took the liberty of taking a /played screenshot. If you break it down by total gold earned per day played it actually works out to 367g per day which is pretty interesting as I def don’t make that much gold a day. (It’s also somewhat embarrassing how many hours I’ve invested into this game).

A logical next question could be, what is the maximum amount of gold that you can have on a character? Well someone’s actually reached it and the answer is 214,748 gold, 36 silver, 48 copper. The article that proves this can be found here on, quite the large sum and I’m not sure if I’ll ever manage to reach that cap (or if I’d try to) but for now I’m taking a break and buying some useless achievements that are a pure gold sink! There wasn’t anything special about how I made all my gold, I didn’t play the auction hall, it was more just saving over time, being frugal and not spending unless I had to. I always try and do dailies everyday which usually take me about 30 mins of my time but yields greater than 200g a day.

Finally, if I did decide to try and hit the cap, using the rate at which I earn gold (367g per day) it would take… *drumroll* another 312 days played… Probably not a good idea 🙂
